Jack Marriott: neuroscientist, traveller, and asylum seeker* from the UK

*asylum seeker (noun)
/əˈsaɪləm ˌsiːkə/
someone who leaves their home country to seek safety, freedom, or refuge elsewhere.

War, corruption, a health service on its knees, knife crime as a leading cause of death for teenage boys in the capital, and population in debt, watching its institutions fail. This is the state of the UK today.

Freedom, safety, and financial independence are not guaranteed any more. The UK has changed so much over the last 20 years, and despite its incredible history, people, and legacy, it is clearly now in rapid decline, and normal life for most people has become quite miserable.

About 700 native Britons left the UK every day in 2025. Neglected by their own country and off to places like Thailand, Australia, Spain, and Canada for a better life.
